Senators Unveil Long-Awaited Cybersecurity Bill

The Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010 would provide a framework for the president to authorize emergency measures to protect the mostly privately owned critical IT infrastructure if a cyber attack is imminent. The bill also would reform the Federal Information Security Management Act, the 8-year-old law that governs how federal agencies secure their IT systems. A White House Office of Cybersecurity Policy, headed by a Senate-confirmed director, would advise the president on all cyber security matters. Two key colleagues, Sens. Jay Rockefeller, D.-W.Va., and Olympia Snowe, R.-Maine, sponsors of their own cybersecurity legislation.”]
