U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission releases revised cybersecurity guidance for publicly traded companies. Guidance is meant “to assist public companies in preparing disclosures about cybersecurity risks and incidents,” the SEC says. The new guidance sends a clear message to corporate executives that they must take responsibility for cybersecurity. The SEC said that “in light of the increasing significance of cybersecurity incidents,” additional guidance had become necessary. The regulator has already reportedly investigated companies such as Yahoo for failing to disclose breaches to investors in a timely manner.”]
