Russia: 7-Year Sentence for Blackhole Mastermind

Russian authorities have sentenced Dmitry “Paunch” Fedotov to seven years in prison for hacking and malware attacks. He was one of seven Russian men found guilty of computer crimes and sentenced to spend up to eight years. Blackhole was the most prevalent online threat in 2012 and was used to distribute many different types of malware, including banking Trojans that could be used to drain victims’ bank accounts. Russian authorities often turn a blind eye to Russians who run cybercrime campaigns that target foreigners.”]
