SIM card manufacturer Gemalto confirms it was hacked but downplays the impact of the intrusion. The company says its segmented internal networks – where encryption keys are stored – weren’t breached. Security experts question the company’s assertions, released so soon after the company first learned of the espionage operation that allegedly began five years ago.
