Four banks were closed Oct. 14 by state and federal banking regulators. These failures bring the year’s tally to 98 failed institutions. Country Bank, Aledo, Ill., was closed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation – Division of Banking, appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. as receiver. First State Bank, Cranford, N.J., closed by New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. Blue Ridge Savings Bank, Inc., Inc. closed by North Carolina Office of Commissioner of Banks, which appointed FDIC as receiver.”]
