FFIEC Issues Malware, Attack Alerts

Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council issues cyber-attack warning. Financial institutions at increased risk from attacks designed to steal online credentials. The FFIEC has not said if it will issue new guidance relating to online attacks and destructive malware. The organization recommends that the advisories be routed to every organization’s CEO, CIO and CISO. The alerts do not contain “any new regulatory expectations,” but are rather intended to make financial organizations aware of risks, the council says. The warning comes after one such attack was launched in November 2014, against Sony Pictures Entertainment.”]
