Feds: Secure Smartphone Service Helped Drug Cartels

U.S. Department of Justice has charged five individuals with running a secure smartphone service that was designed and marketed to help criminals evade law enforcement agencies. Phantom Secure allegedly developed, marketed and supported modified, encrypted BlackBerry and Android smartphones designed for criminal activities. The service’s alleged owner and operators have been accused of aiding and abetting drug trafficking as well as obstruction of justice. The investigation is the result of a coordinated operation between the FBI, Australian law enforcement and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.”]
