FCC Fines Cox Over Breach Incident

The Federal Communications Commission has fined cable TV provider Cox Communications $595,000. Cox suffered a data breach at the hands of a well-known hacking group that exposed information on a handful of its customers. The FCC has also issued significant fines against AT&T, Dialing Services, Sprint, Verizon and TerraCom and YourTel America. Cox has agreed to improve its data security and privacy practices in the following ways: In the settlement, Cox will implement a seven-year monitoring program.”]
