Facebook’s Leaky Data Bucket: App Stored User Data Online

Android app stored Facebook user data in unsecured places, a Firebase database and an API server. Cambridge Analytica obtained data for 87 million profiles from a researcher who created a personality quiz app. Facebook launched an audit of app developers and in early 2018 suspended more than 200 apps. It’s unclear exactly what data from a user’s profile was exposed, because Nightwatch Security wisely pulled back after making the discovery. The name of the app, which first appeared in Google’s Play Store in early 2017, hasn’t been made public.”]
