China Suspected in FDIC Breaches

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. hacked in 2010, 2011 and 2013, according to a congressional report. The report says a foreign government – “likely the Chinese” – penetrated computers and workstations used by high-level FDIC officials. The Chinese government, however, has dismissed reports that it hacked the FDIC. The FDIC inspector general issued a new audit report that criticizes the agency for continued lax information security practices. The agency’s failure to follow its own security guidelines seems to persist, the report says.”]
