Amazon Rekognition Stokes Surveillance State Fears

Amazon’s Rekognition product offering combines machine learning, image analysis and big data. ACLU and 35 other organizations urged Amazon to discontinue selling ReKognition to governments. ACLU: “Once powerful surveillance systems like these are built and deployed, the harm will be extremely difficult to undo” Amazon: “Our quality of life would be much worse today if we outlawed new technology because some people could choose to abuse the technology” Amazon says that technological advances should not be restricted simply because they might be abused.”]
