Singapore government passed legislation restricting the police use of TraceTogether data to only seven types of criminal offences. New legislation allows all government agencies to access the data from the TraceTogether app only for contact tracing or for investigating seven criminal offences: terrorism, murder, rape, kidnapping, weapons, drugs, and escapes from custody. There is provision for a fine of up to S$20,000 and/or a jail term of as long as two years for those government and law enforcement officers who breach the guidelines. Singaporeans had the option to write in to request the erasure of their data.”]
