To pay or not pay a hackers ransomware demand? It comes down to cyber hygiene

At least 170 county, city or state government systems have experienced a ransomware attack since 2013. Baltimore Mayor Jack Young announced last week that the U.S. Conference of Mayors (UCSM) passed a resolution calling on mayors to oppose the payment of ransomware attackers. The city of Riviera Beach, Florida, with a population of 35,000, was infected on May 29 by what is likely Ryuk ransomware. Riviera beach agreed to pay the attackers 65 bitcoins, worth around $600,00 at the time, to restore their network.”]
