The WannaCry variant of malware was released in May 2017, infecting more than 200,000 machines in 150 countries. It was able to spread rapidly using the EternalBlue exploit. This has important implications for incident management that we can liken to Maslows Hierarchy of Needs for incident response. To that end, incident response may be best considered in a framework that mirrors the framework of Maslow’s Hierarchy with three primary organizational needs: triage, scoping, threat hunting and threat hunting.”]
