Busted: Federal Reserve employee mined bitcoin using government server

Nicholas Berthaume was sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $5,000. He was a Communications Analyst at the U.S. Federal Reserve System. He used a federal server to mine bitcoins on a server for over two years, from March 2012 to June 2014. Investigators were unable to tell how many bitcoins he earned using that server due to the anonymity of the bitcoin networks network He was fired from the Fed and later admitted his guilt and cooperated in the investigation.”]
