This Android malware can secretly root your phone and install programs

Malware dubbed Godless can root Android devices and install spyware. It targets devices running Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and earlier, Trend Micro says. The malware can be tricky to uninstall once the malware has finished its rooting. It’s best to download apps from trusted stores such as Google Play and Amazon, it says. Less than 2 percent of affected devices were in the U.S., Trend Micro said Tuesday in a blog post. So far, Trend says it has seen 850,000 affected devices, with half in India and more in southeast Asian countries.”]
