7 million accounts compromised via Lifeboat hack, a Minecraft Pocket Edition community

Security researcher Troy Hunt has identified 7,089,395 compromised Minecraft accounts. Lifeboat is listed in Have I Been Pwneds top 10 breaches; it currently is ranked eighth. The company didnt notify its users of the breach, which occurred in January. The passwords, according to Hunt, had been stored with a weak MD5 hash and were not salted, meaning it was very close to useless cryptographic storage The company says it has no reason for anyone to contact Lifeboat with a damaging report.”]
