Ransomware has been around since 2013, but it was the success of CryptoLocker that spawned a vertical market for criminals. Last week’s NotPetya attack spread so quickly that it was focused on organizations in Ukraine and Russia. The authorities in Ukraine seized the company’s servers on Wednesday, and are investigating the company over the attack.
