IdentityTheft.gov is a new online hub for victims of identity theft. The FTC received 490,000 complaints about stolen identities last year, up 47% from 2014. The Justice Department reported 17.6 million cases of ID theft in the U.S. last year. The site also offers a feature to chat with FTC staffers and offers a list of steps to take to mitigate the damage from the theft.
