All CoinVault and Bitcryptor ransomware victims can now recover their files for free

Researchers from Kaspersky Lab and the Dutch Public Prosecution Service have obtained the last set of encryption keys from command-and-control servers that were used by CoinVault and Bitcryptor. The Dutch authorities arrested two men in connection with the attacks in September. Those arrests led to the recovery of around 14,000 additional decryption keys which have now been added to the noransom.kaspersky.com repository. However, the victims of other ransomware programs are not as lucky: an FBI special agent recently admitted that the agency often advises ransomware victims to just pay the ransom.”]
