Google, Facebook and peers criticize CISA bill ahead of Senate consideration

The Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 is due for consideration by the U.S. Senate in the coming weeks. The bill would give businesses immunity from lawsuits when they share cyberthreat data with the government. Critics say the bill could be used by companies to hand over customers’ personal data to intelligence agencies. The Department of Homeland Security warned in July about the privacy implications of the bill. The Commerce & Communications Industry Association says the bill does not adequately protect users’ privacy or put an appropriate limit on permissible uses of information.”]
