US personnel agency takes system offline after hack

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management suspends a system used for background checks. The agency says there’s no evidence the system was hacked. The system is used by multiple agencies to carry out background checks on potential new hires. It will be offline for four to six weeks, the agency says. The OPM has been hit by at least two major security breaches this month. A second breach was apparently carried out by hackers with connections to China, it has been reported. The Chinese government has denied the accusations.”]
