Certificate Authorities form group to push for better certificate-revocation checking

Certificate Authority Security Council (CASC) will focus on promoting new security standards, policies and best practices for SSL deployment on the Web. OCSP stands for Online Certificate Status Protocol, a mechanism called OCSP stapling. CAs are organizations that issue digital certificates. The group’s first efforts to educate Web server administrators, software vendors, browser developers and end users about the importance of certificate-revocation checking and the benefits of adopting and implementing a new mechanism. The OCSP is supported by Microsoft’s IIS (Internet Information Services), the newest versions of Apache and nginx Web servers.”]
