U.S. bank cyberattacks reflect ‘frightening’ new era

Cyberattacks on U.S. banks over the last several months reflect a frightening new era in cyberwarfare, one security expert says. Banks have been battling with mixed success with distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks from a group called Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Cyber Fighters. Banks targeted include Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, PNC Financial, JPMorgan Chase, SunTrust Banks, Fifth Third Bank, BB&T and HSBC. The group has vowed to continue the attacks, which it calls Operation Ababil.”]
