Feds Celebrate Cyber Monday with Crackdown on Counterfeiters

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security shut down 150 websites for selling or distributing counterfeit goods. The operation is the eighth in a series of raids called “Operation In Our Sites” The websites become billboards for educating the public about counterfeiting. A massive spam campaign has been launched, disguised as UPS notices, has also been launched by the Department of Justice, the FBI and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Spoof website Cloudmark warns of a fake UPS notice that links to a website that will deliver a virus.”]
