Manchester hospital loses patients personal data

Information Commissioner’s Office finds University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust in breach of Data Protection Act. Hospital did not provide students with DPA-related training, which it gave to its own staff. London Ambulance Service NHS Trust also found to have breached the DPA when a personal, unencrypted laptop was stolen from a contractor’s home. Trust has now signed an undertaking to ensure all students are aware of DPA policies, to keep personal information accessed by students secure. The trust has also agreed to ensure that all staff are made aware of the Trust’s data protection policies.”]
