Visa to Make it Easier for Merchants to Adopt Chip-Based Card Payments

Visa waives the need to annually validate compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standard. Visa says it’s important EMV gain ground in the U.S. and also that next-generation POS terminals support NFC for mobile payments. The incentive program, for which Visa-supporting merchants can choose to apply through their bank, is scheduled to start Oct. 1, 2012.
