Senators Push for Privacy, Data Security Legislation

Democratic members of a Senate committee promise to push hard for new online privacy protections. Senator John Rockefeller: “I want ordinary consumers to know what’s being done with their personal information” The Do-Not-Track Online Act would make it easy for Web users to stop all companies from tracking them online. The Data Security and Breach Notification Act would require companies that have data breaches to notify affected customers. The bill would allow the Federal Trade Commission to take enforcement action against companies that fail to honor do-not-track requests.”]
