Tokyo Hackerspace is a group of hackers and tech enthusiasts who help with relief efforts. The group has distributed a network of radiation monitors around the Fukushima nuclear plant. The project began as a way to collect and distribute more-recent radiation information than the government was releasing. The idea “basically came from feeling helpless,” says one member of the group who spearhead the project. The goal is to expand the network around Fukushima to help the public with radiation data gathered around the damaged plant.”]
