Texas fires two tech chiefs over breach

Texas Comptroller’s office has fired heads of information security and of innovation and technology. Two other employees have also been fired over the incident, a statement said. Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, names and addresses of more than 3.2 million Texans were inadvertently posted on a publicly accessible Web site for nearly a year. The exposed data was contained in three files that were transferred from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas and the Texas Workforce Commission. The data was supposed to have been encrypted in an encrypted manner by the agencies.”]
