Amazon Web Services (AWS) has upgraded its Web-based Management Console with features designed to make it easier to “scale up or scale down as [computing] needs change” New features in the console allow for more flexibility in dealing with instance types. Users can now change the type of a stopped, EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instance that uses Amazon’s Elastic Block Store service. Users also can now control how an instance shuts itself down — either stopping the instance so that it can be started again later, or terminating it.”]
