New Google Apps Service Targets Gov’t Security Needs

Google unveils a new version of Google Apps designed to meet the security needs of U.S. government agencies. The service includes Gmail, Talk, Groups, Calendar, Docs, Sites, Video and Postini. Berkeley Labs, which is part of the Department of Energy, started using Google Apps earlier this year. Google’s announcement follows reports last week that the company missed a June deadline of full implementation of the service for the city of Los Angeles. The delay is reportedly due to concerns over the security of the offering.”]
