Researchers Warn of Attacks Against Windows, PowerPoint

Microsoft patched a record-tying 13 separate security bulletins that patched 26 vulnerabilities. Some of the flaws will be exploited long before others, said researchers interviewed today. Microsoft said 12 of the 26 vulnerabilities, or 46% of the total, were tagged with a “1” in the company’s exploitability index. The flaws include a vulnerability in DirectShow, a component of Windows’ DirectX graphics infrastructure, as well as a 17-year-old bug in the kernel of all 32-bit versions of Windows.”]
