German antivirus testing lab AV Test has released its most recent data for how well 29 different antivirus programs did in tests. Top performers, including Germanys AVK 2007 and AntiVir, were able to identify the vast majority of malware. The worst performer, eTrust-VET, detected only 62.1 percent of malware; Symantec came in with a solid 97.8 percent catch rate; McAfee was middle of the road with 87.2 percent catch rates.”]
