Damaging Malware Declining, Older Variants On the Rise

Low-quality malware is taxing the resources of security companies, since it is being detected in ever-higher numbers. In many cases, hackers simply take existing malware and create variants, tweaking the older code to evade antivirus software. The trend overall, overall, has been “quantity over quality,” says Eugene Kaspersky, head of antivirus research.
