Ore. Health Data Breach Results in Loss of 4 Jobs

A late December data breach at an Ore. health care facility has resulted in the firing of one employee and the resignation of three others. The backups contained personal and medical information on some 365,000 hospice and home patients. The company has stepped up its data security procedures, including the use encryption. Kroll, a security vendor, has been contracted to provide its TheftSmart credit monitoring and restoration services to affected patients free of charge. Providence says it has no reason to believe the data was put to illegal use.”]
