Social Security Numbers on State Websites

Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell was blasted when an unknown number of Social Security numbers were posted in business filings on the states website. Similar data is available on New York and Florida sites, as well as on seven other state sites, USA Today reports. Blackwell’s chief of staff claims Ohio has done nothing wrong because state law calls for those filings to be processed within two days and posted by the next day so that theyre available to lending institutions and other interested parties. A spokesman for Blackwell said even though the state didnt break any laws, it is considering removing the numbers from its site.”]
