Thousands of iOS apps infected by XcodeGhost

Early reports listed 39 apps that had been trojanized with a rogue Xcode development tool. XcodeGhost added hidden functionality to any app compiled with it. The rogue tool’s creators could have added more harmful functionality, but they chose not to, researchers say. On Tuesday, mobile security firm Appthority reported that it had found 476 infected apps in its enterprise customers’ iOS App Store. FireEye researchers have identified over 4,000 infected apps so far on the App Store so far.”]
