‘Ripper’ ATM Malware: Where Will Cybercriminals Strike Next?

Malware dubbed “Ripper” is a new type of malicious software designed to steal money from ATMs. The malware, dubbed Ripper, has been identified by FireEye malware expert Daniel Regalado. In mid-July, $2.2 million was stolen from dozens of ATMs in Taiwan in a flash strike that sent shivers through the banking industry. The attacks have highlighted the failings of some banks to secure their ATMs, most of which still run Microsoft’s retired Windows XP.”]
