Why Efforts to Speed EMV Payments Won’t Have Much Impact

Visa’s new plan to help merchants speed checkout times for EMV chip payments sounds good, in theory. But in reality, it isn’t likely to have much immediate impact on either speeding EMV adoption or enhancing the user experience. A majority of U.S. merchants are still trying to get their EMV terminals certified as compliant with chip card standards so they can be put to use (see EMV: Chargebacks Hitting Merchants of All Sizes) MasterCard recently came out with a similar solution called M/Chip Fast.”]
