4 in Chinese Army Charged With Breaching Equifax

Four members of China’s People’s Liberation Army have been indicted for allegedly hacking Equifax in 2017. They are accused of stealing the personal data of over 145 million Americans as well as a vast trove of the company’s trade secrets and intellectual property. The four alleged hackers, Wu Zhiyong, Wang Qian, Xu Ke and Liu Lei, are members of the Peoples Liberation Army’s 54th Research Institute. The indictment is the first time that U.S. law enforcement has directly tied the breach to the Chinese government.”]
