Ten people have been arrested in connection with SIM-swapping attacks that stole $100 million in cryptocurrencies. The attacks targeted high-profile individuals in the U.S. and Austria. The eight suspects, aged 18 to 26, are said to be part of a larger ring, including two members of the ring. The latest arrests were made in England and Scotland; the suspects are expected to be extradited to the United States for prosecution. To avoid SIM swapping attacks, it’s recommended that users keep their device’s software up to date, limit data-sharing online, and enable 2FA via apps.
