1.5 million records leaked in video game platform extortion scheme

E-Sports Network ESEA, a platform for video game tournaments, was hacked on Dec. 27. Hackers asked for $100,000 to not leak or sell the data on the black market. ESEA refused to pay the ransom and asked the FBI for help. The company is looking into implementing more robust security. Customers are advised to change their passwords, security questions and answers, and report any suspicious activity to the FBI if there is anything suspicious in the past few days of the hack.”]
